The second round of nucleic acid tests in Ningbo's Qianwan New Area was completed as of March 16, with more than 21,300 people tested. All tests returned negative.

The mass testing came after a man residing in the northern area of Ningbo tested positive during a routine nucleic acid test on the morning of March 14. He had returned from a city outside Zhejiang on March 11.

The patient has been sent to a designated hospital for treatment and closed-loop management has been imposed on his residential compound and the places he had visited over the past four days.

The first round of nucleic acid tests was carried out in these areas on March 15, with all results turning out to be negative.

Ningbo announced a string of measures on March 14 to contain the further spread of COVID-19 after the city reported this case.

One of the measures taken is increasing the frequency of nucleic tests for schools.

The city's Zhenhai district has instructed all students and faculties to undergo a nucleic test, which is expected to be completed within this week.

All schools, including those in kindergartens, are required to undergo a checkup once a week. Workers such as sanitation workers, dormitory administrators and security guards must undergo a checkup every two to three days.

More nucleic acid test sites, some of which will be open round the clock, will be set up across the city to provide more convenience for residents.
