5 places rated 'excellent' in rural tourism

Five places in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province were rated as "excellent" in an evaluation of 19 rural "all-for-one" tourism demonstration zones.

The five recipients are Dayan town in Fenghua district, Maoyang village in Xiangshan county, Qiantong town in Ninghai county, Jiulong Lake in Zhenhai district and Chunxiao sub-district in Beilun district.

Rural tourism has been quickly gaining traction in Ningbo in recent years.

Over 66 million tourists travelled to the city's rural areas in 2021, generating 7.4 billion yuan ($1.13 billion) in tourism revenue, up 20 percent and 18 percent respectively, official statistics show.

During this period, homestays and inns in the rural areas received more than 7 million visitors, up 13 percent year-on-year.

A head official at the Ningbo municipal bureau of culture, radio, film and tourism said that the city will further develop its rural tourism sector as part of the government's broader push to increase the incomes of local residents and bolster common prosperity.
