Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province plans to build an additional 25 pocket parks this year, local authorities said.
A pocket park refers to a small outdoor space usually located in an urban area surrounded by commercial buildings or houses on small lots.
Ningbo is presently home to over 100 such parks following the launch of the "pocket park" campaign by local authorities to improve the city's afforestation in 2018.
This year, the city plans to make further use of idle spaces by building parks on fragmented land, which is even smaller than pocket parks.
Thirty-five of such parks will be built across the city in the pilot phase.
