Ningbo adds 2 provincial tourism resorts

East China's Zhejiang province recently approved the establishment of five provincial tourism resorts.

Two of them - Ningbo Bay Tourism Resort and Ningbo Hangzhou Bay Tourism Resort - are located in Ningbo, bringing the total number of such resorts in the city to nine. Among these nine is a national level resort.

According to the information released by provincial tourism authorities, Ningbo Bay Tourism Resort covers a total area of 25.28 square kilometers including 13.98 square kilometers of sea area.

The resort will receive over 15 billion yuan in investment ($2.3 billion) and focus on the development of sectors including culture, tourism, sports, fashion and health.

It aims to increase visitor numbers to over 15 million yuan by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.

Meanwhile, Ningbo Hangzhou Bay Tourism Resort spans 8.5 square kilometers and will receive an investment of 14.193 billion yuan.

It is currently home to two large-scale theme parks, Ningbo Fangte Glorious Orient and Ningbo Fangte Oriental Heritage, with additional facilities including the Boonie Bears Cultural and Creative Park and the Sunriver Animation Industrial Park currently under construction.
