Twenty-eight cultural and tourism projects with a combined investment value of 24.123 billion yuan broke ground in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on Feb 26, according to local media reports.
The projects include scenic spots, tourism resorts, commercial blocks and hotels.
An important project among them is the upgrading of Cicheng Ancient Town, a national 4A scenic attraction located in Ningbo's Jiangbei district.
The upgrading will see the town undergo a complete face-lift and the addition of premium hotels and homestays.
Visitors to the ancient town can view architectures from the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and savor unique snacks including Cicheng Niangao, a steamed glutinous rice cake.
Yangming Ancient Town, a comprehensive tourism facility themed on Chinese Neo-Confucian philosopher Wang Yangming and located in the county-level city of Yuyao, is another notable project.
Wang Yangming (1472–1529) was a Chinese statesman, general, and Neo–Confucian philosopher born in Yuyao. He is best known for his philosophy of "unity of knowing and acting", which can be interpreted as a denial of weakness of will.
Other significant projects that have started construction include the Banbianshan Tourist Resort and the Ningbo Bay Tourist Resort.
