Ningbo to open bullet train to Qingdao

Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province will open its first bullet train route to the coastal city of Qingdao in East China's Shandong province on Jan 10, 2022. 

The D2160 train will depart from Ningbo at 6:27 am every day and pass through cities including Hangzhou, Shanghai, Nantong and Lianyungang before arriving in Qingdao at 3:15 pm.

The 1,069-km journey will take eight hours and 48 minutes.

The return trip will see the D2159 train leave Qingdao at 3:41 pm before arriving in Ningbo at 10:57 pm.

Ticket sales for the route started on Dec 27, with the fare for second-class seats and first-class seats priced at 413 yuan ($63.5) and 659 yuan respectively.

Qingdao is hailed as the Sailing Capital of China, the Best Sailing City of Asia, the World Beer City, a UNESCO City of Film, a National Civilized City, and one of the Happiest Cities in China.

It also has the reputation of being "the Oriental Switzerland" and "the Chinese City of Brands".
