COVID-19 vaccinations for children aged 12 to 17 started in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province on August 1.

First doses began being administered in the city for those aged between 15 and 17 on August 1 and will begin being administered to those aged 12 to 14 on September 1.

According to the Ningbo Center for Disease Control and Prevention, schools should help organize jabs for students aged 12 to 17. Makeshift facilities will be set up in schools with more than 600 students to provide vaccination services. Other schools will coordinate vaccine appointments for students at their local inoculation entities.

Non-students and those who want to receive their first shot during the summer vacation can do so with a chaperone at community health service centers and other inoculation entities.

Haishu district launched vaccination services for children on August 2. On the first day, more than 200 people got vaccinated.

"We've set up a phone line to help with vaccination appointments for children and a special area has been set up to offer additional services for those in the target age range," said Tong Siwei, deputy director of the Haishu Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
