A cultural and tourism festival featuring bamboo shoots opened in Ruyayang village, Xizhou town, Xiangshan county on April 10.
The festival's first day attracted more than 5,000 visitors to savor cuisines made with bamboo shoots, experience local folk customs, and admire well-preserved ancient architecture built in the Ming and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.
The village is home to nearly 100,000-mu (6,666.7 hectares) bamboo forests. Hosting the festival is part of local authorities' efforts to promote rural revitalization by boosting the integration of the culture, tourism, and agriculture sectors
The festival's organizer estimated that the two-month event will attract more than 50,000 visitors in total.
