A training session on the construction of modern agricultural parks was launched in Cixi, a county-level city in Ningbo, on Oct 28, according to local media reports.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the event gathered numerous agricultural experts and scholars from across the nation to explore the development of modern agricultural industrial parks.
In recent years, Cixi has seen robust growth in its modern agriculture.
The Cixi National Modern Agricultural Development Zone, covering an area of 155,000 mu (10,333.3 hectares), has been designated a national-level modern agricultural park.
Four industrial chains, each with an annual output of more 100 million yuan ($14.5 million), namely vegetables, fruit, chicken farming, and pig farming have formed in the park.
Among them, the vegetable industrial chain, with an annual output of 1.8 billion yuan, has been listed among Zhejiang's provincial model agricultural industrial chains.
To date, the park, with an investment of 6 billion yuan, is home to 51 large and medium-sized enterprises in the agriculture sector, such as Charoen Pokphand Group, Haitong Group and Zhejiang Henghai Agricultural Development Co Ltd.
The total output value of the park is predicted to reach 6.6 billion yuan this year.
