Ningbo foreign trade exceeds 900b yuan in 2019
Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province saw stable growth in foreign trade in 2019 despite international trade uncertainties.
The city’s imports and exports surpassed 900 billion yuan ($134.3 billion), representing a year-on-year increase of 6.9 percent, significantly faster than the national average of 3.4 percent recorded last year, official data shows.
Ningbo ranked eighth among cities nationwide in terms of total import and export volume, and placed fifth in terms of export volume, behind only Shenzhen, Shanghai, Suzhou and Dongguan.
The top 200 foreign trade enterprises in the city accounted for 49.3 percent of the city's total, according to statistics recently released by the Ningbo municipal bureau of commerce.
China-Base Ningbo Group Co led the city with $3.9 billion in imports and exports.
Notably, foreign trade of high-tech products saw a sharp increase last year.
Ningbo imported and exported 81.34 billion yuan worth of high-tech products in 2019, up 20.1 percent year-on-year, accounting for 8.9 percent of the city' total.
Numerous high-tech companies reported a surge in foreign trade last year.
Sunny Optical Technology Group moved up to third place from fourth in 2018. Risen Energy Co was among the top 10 for the first time. Konfoong Materials International Co, a national leader in semiconductor materials, rose to 136th place from 170th in the previous year, with imports and exports increasing by about 30 percent year-on-year.
