In recent years, the Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area or NETDA – located in Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – has prioritized improvements to people's lives and employment in its pursuit of a better future for the region, with the latter seen as the best way to boost the former.

Nantong, dubbed as one of the gateway cities along the Yangtze River Economic Belt, is reportedly making greater contributions to improve the quality of the environment, as well as promote premium regional development through high-quality city construction.

In addition to newly established parks, green corridors, protective grass spaces and other infrastructure projects have been completed in the NETDA.

Statistics showed that at the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), the green area of the development zone had reached 3,466 hectares, with a green area of 154.75 square meters per capita and a green coverage rate of 43.5 percent.

Through consistent efforts, the zone has now reportedly taken on a new look with beautiful landscaping and a revivified environment, having basically formed a new sustainable pattern of balancing nature with economic development.
