Nantong receives over 3m tourists during holiday

Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province received more than 3.3 million tourists, up 30.7 percent from 2019, during the five-day May Day holiday, which concluded on May 3.

The tourism industry in the city generated over 2.38 billion yuan ($345.11 million) during the same period, an increase of 20.1 percent compared with the same period in 2019.

During the holiday, all the tourist attractions in the city offered a variety of activities to attract and entertain tourists.

Langshan Mountain scenic spot greeted over 250,000 visitors, who enjoyed traditional Chinese dances staged by performers dressed in gorgeous hanfu and watched excerpts from Yueju Opera.

At Xiaoyangkou Resort, more than 100,000 tourists gathered seafood on the beach, went to campfire parties, and enjoyed movies and live band performances in the open air.

Nantong Forest Safari Park extended its closing time from 5 pm to 9 pm, allowing more visits off-peak travel. The park also launched water performances and drone shows to celebrate the May Day. During the holiday, it received nearly 140,000 tourists, 45,000 in one day, both records since the park opened in 2018.

In addition, cultural facilities organized more than 500 activities, including performances and exhibitions, during the five-day holiday, benefiting nearly 1 million people.
