Nantong University sets up institute of applied public health

Nantong University in Jiangsu province inaugurated the Institute of Applied Public Health on Dec 24, marking the start of the epidemiology training project.
With a focus on applied public health research, the institute will collaborate with various departments of the Nantong municipal center for disease control and prevention to conduct applied scientific research.
The institute will engage in research on the application and transformation of public health in areas such as major epidemic prevention and control and the construction of a healthy Nantong.
Ji Mingming, vice-president of Nantong University, stated that the research institute's establishment and the launch of the training program are important initiatives that allow the university to contribute to the betterment of Nantong.
They are key measures designed to enhance public health education and practical capabilities through in-depth collaboration between the university and the local community, signifying a new milestone in the development of public health in the school, Ji added.
He expressed hope that the students will apply what they have learned to contribute to the development of public health and disease control.
Zhang Bing, director of the Nantong municipal health commission, said that the establishment of the research institute is of great significance in accelerating the training of disease control talent in Nantong and promoting the high-quality development of disease control endeavors.
He expects that the students will cherish this opportunity, enhance their own capabilities, and inject new vitality into the health and wellness undertakings of Nantong.
