Haimen chosen for Jiangsu cultural tourism initiative
Haimen district in Nantong has been selected for a Jiangsu provincial program to develop demonstration zones integrating culture and tourism, making it the only district in Nantong chosen for the initiative.
In 2025, Haimen received 8.34 million visitors and generated 7.34 billion yuan ($1.10 billion) in total tourism revenue, up 16.8 percent and 15.3 percent year-on-year respectively.
Haimen has capitalized on its location at the mouth of the Yangtze River and its ties to renowned industrialist Zhang Jian (1853–1926) to attract tourists. The district has expanded its lineup of events and performances and introduced ticket-based promotions to encourage visitors to stay longer and spend more.
