Mlily, a global sleep product brand headquartered in Rugao, has been featured in SleepWorld Magazine, a US publication covering sleep medicine and the sleep health industry, in a report exploring the science behind healthy sleep and the role mattress manufacturers can play in public education.

The feature examines common misconceptions about sleep and how sleep surfaces can affect human health. In an interview, Mlily founder Ni Zhanggen shared his views on the importance of helping consumers make informed choices based on sleep science rather than relying on simple labels such as soft or firm.

The report highlights how a mattress should provide balanced support and distribute pressure appropriately to promote good quality sleep and spinal health. While no mattress alone can guarantee deeper sleep, a suitable surface may help the body settle into more stable sleep, the feature notes.

Founded in China, Mlily was among the earlier home furnishing brands from the country to expand internationally. Its products are now available in more than 100 countries and regions, with an extensive retail and customer presence across Europe and North America.

Ni said a mattress should not be viewed merely as a piece of furniture, but as an integral part of the overall sleep environment. He also called on more companies and industry players to participate in public education on sleep health, sharing science-based knowledge informed by clinical research.

Although such efforts require a long-term investment of time and resources, he believes they can improve public awareness of sleep health and support the sustainable development of the industry.
