A delegation of journalists from Hong Kong and Macao media outlets visited Haimen district in Nantong on Sept 10 to learn about its cultural tourism, sports and industry.

The visit began at Haimen Codion Football Club, where they were briefed on its youth training system and toured the stadium and athletes' living quarters. Du Yanhong, editor-in-chief of Macau Weekly, praised the football environment in Haimen and called for more sports exchanges with Hong Kong and Macao.

At China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu), a model of the "Greater Bay Area No 1" cruise ship caught their attention. The oil-electric hybrid catamaran, built in Haimen, now operates sightseeing routes in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The delegation also visited China Dieshiqiao International Home Textile City, where digitalization is breathing new life into the traditional home textile industry. The sector has grown into a 100-billion-yuan ($14.92-billion) industrial cluster.

In Changle town, the hometown of famed industrialist Zhang Jian (1853-1926), the journalists toured the Zhang Jian Memorial Hall and Yisheng Distillery, where they explored his vision of saving the nation through industry and education and watched the traditional brewing process.

The journalists said they would share their experiences in Haimen through their media platforms.
