A vibrant celebration of traditional culture and local food took place at Longyou River Ecological Park in Rugao on Aug 20, bringing together performances, traditional culture and specialty products from across the city.

The event offered something for everyone, with classic puppet shows taking the spotlight alongside a lively mix of singing and dancing, acrobatics, comic storytelling, Peking Opera and magic performances.

Beyond the stage, a bustling market offered visitors a taste of Rugao's local culture and produce. Traditional specialties including Baipu dried tofu, coix wine, braised pork head and tofu filled the market with tempting aromas, while handcrafted items such as Rugao sachets, Cai-style dough figurines and Rugao papercutting showcased the city's folk craftsmanship.

A selection of local agricultural products was also on display, including produce from Pingyuanchi village, crisp pears from Xuwan and locally raised black pork.
