This year, the cargo unloading capacity of Sunshine Island Liquid Chemical Terminal in Yangkou Port, Rudong, is expected to exceed 4 million metric tons.

In recent years, Yangkou Port has been focusing on the functional connection between the port and surrounding enterprises. Through the construction of professional ports, warehousing facilities, and pipe galleries, it connects with the raw material supply needs of industrial clusters such as chemical and new materials, gradually forming an efficient industrial chain extending from raw material unloading to product output.

The liquid chemical terminal is constructed in two phases, with the first phase including berths G1, G2, and G3, with a design scale of two 5,000-ton berths and one 10,000-ton berth, and the G4 and G5 berths in the second phase both 50,000-ton liquid bulk cargo berths. All five berths currently have been put into use.

"The G1 berth was put into operation in 2015, and the liquid chemical terminal has been in operation for 10 years since then, with a cumulative unloading capacity exceeding 12 million tons. In 2022, terminal throughput began experiencing an explosive increase, reaching a historical high in 2024 with an annual throughput of 4.16 million tons," said Qian Guotao, the terminal's production scheduling manager.
