The Primary School Attached to Rugao Normal School has been included on the list of national model schools and bases for art education, according to the latest announcement released by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education.

The recognition highlights the school's strong commitment to arts education, particularly through its comprehensive arts club, which features four main branches: photography, painting, calligraphy and handicrafts. Rooted in local intangible cultural heritage, the program encourages students to capture beauty through the lens, express creativity with brushes and ink, convey cultural depth through calligraphy, and bring imagination to life through hands-on making.

By integrating traditional craftsmanship with modern artistic expression, the school has created a vibrant platform for students to develop both artistic skills and cultural awareness. Members of the arts club have achieved outstanding results in a wide range of art competitions. As just one example, students won a provincial special prize for photography and a first prize for painting at the Jiangsu Campus Culture and Arts Festival.
