The Urban Intangible Cultural Heritage Room at Nantong's Wenfeng Plaza has recently become a part of local residents' daily lives, transforming into a new cultural space right at their doorstep.

As an important platform for promoting the innovative development of intangible cultural heritage, the public space has gathered over 10 local projects, including Nantong blue calico, colorful homespun cloth, and lanterns, since its opening in June.

With a nearly 1,000-square-meter immersive art space, the room offers a homey atmosphere and is divided into four main areas: immersive exhibitions and sales, intangible heritage classes, art exhibitions, and a crafts marketplace.

"In this space, we try to create a warm, inviting atmosphere like visiting a friend's home, allowing residents to relax and freely explore the charm of intangible cultural heritage," said Guo Xiaochuan, director of the Nantong Cultural Center.

After over two months of improvements, the Urban Intangible Cultural Heritage Room has grown from its original four exhibition halls — Nantong Blue Calico Museum, Kelly Embroidery, Nantong Huayi Tie-Dye Museum, and Nantong Tongzuo Furniture Museum — to now include two more local intangible heritage sites: Yuanchun Tea House and Nantong Foremost Hat Museum.

The second-floor interactive experience area features intangible heritage classes including blue-dye fan making, DIY herbal-stuffed hammers, and embroidered round fans. To date, 16 specialized courses have been held, drawing over 1,000 enthusiasts.
