The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently announced that it has approved the change of production address for Scania Manufacturing (China) to "No 1 Zhongrui Avenue, Chengbei subdistrict, Rugao".
The approval signifies that Scania has officially obtained independent production qualifications in China — a major step forward in the Swedish truck maker's localization strategy.
With this approval, Scania will no longer have to rely on joint ventures or authorized production arrangements in China. Instead, it can operate as a fully independent legal entity, enabling it to integrate its supply chain, optimize production capacity, and strengthen its quality management system.
The move is expected to help the company respond more swiftly to Chinese market demands, reduce costs, and enhance competitiveness, underscoring Scania's long-term commitment to sustainable development in the country.
Scania Manufacturing (China) will produce diesel heavy-duty trucks, pure electric heavy-duty trucks, and key components such as engines, transmissions, and axles at the Rugao facility.
