Following the conclusion of the three-month summer fishing moratorium, 58 vessels set sail for fishing in the Haimen Port Economic Development Zone on the morning of Aug 5.

Beam trawlers and gillnetters lined up in orderly rows within the port basin, their holds packed with crushed ice to preserve the freshness of upcoming catches. By noon, local authorities had distributed fishing permits to each vessel, and the fleet departed from port, charting course for the Liyashan fishing area.

That afternoon, several smaller nearshore boats returned fully laden with swimming crabs, golden hook shrimp, and flatfish — completing day-trip harvests along coastal waters. By the end of the month, an abundance of seafood is expected to flood local markets, delivering seasonal delicacies to residents.
