Fishing is back in Rudong after three-month moratorium
After a three-month moratorium, the fishing ports along the coast of Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province, resumed fishing on Aug 5. Hundreds of fishing boats with special fishing permits set sail and embarked on a new harvest journey.
Liu Xianlin, who has been fishing for over 30 years, was busy preparing ice, hoarding food, transporting salt, and stocking up on daily necessities for seven crew members.

"We mainly fish for swimming crabs. If there is wind, we will come back in two days. If there is no wind, we will come back about once every 10 days," said Liu.
To ensure a smooth fishing experience, Rudong's local authorities organized safety training and conducted comprehensive inspections of fishing boats in advance.
Cold chain logistics centers, as support facilities for fishing ports, also started operating so that consumers can access the seafood at its freshest.
A total of 265 fishing boats and 11 fishing auxiliary boats in Rudong have obtained special fishing permits for this fishing season.
