Workers are putting the finishing touches on equipment installation and testing at the construction site of Microgel's new materials project, located in the Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone in Rudong. This project, which has a total investment of 1.16 billion yuan ($159.24 million), is expected to begin operations in June. Once fully operational, it is anticipated to generate annual taxable sales revenue of 2.4 billion yuan.
The development of major projects is essential for stabilizing the economy and promoting growth and serves as a long-term strategy to strengthen industrial advantages. As of now, Rudong county has 18 provincial and municipal key projects under construction for 2025, with a combined planned investment of 24.1 billion yuan.
Jiangsu Haibao Resource Recycling Technology is undertaking a significant investment of 1 billion yuan to establish a facility with the capacity to process 600,000 metric tons of waste lead-acid batteries annually. To address the natural gas supply requirements of this project, Dayu town has committed 20 million yuan to the development of an LNG gasification station, which commenced operations in October last year.
Meanwhile, the Far East Group's offshore cable project, with a total investment of 3 billion yuan, requires a high-capacity wharf to transport subsea cables. In response, the Yangkou Port Economic Development Zone designated the Jinniu Wharf W1 berth for the project. "The government-funded 50,000-ton wharf has saved the company billions of yuan in costs," said Xu Tao, director of the general manager's office at Far East Offshore Cable.
