The grain production in China exceeded 700 million metric tons for the first time last year, according to the Government Work Report released on March 5 at the third session of the 14th National People's Congress in Beijing.
Sun Chunmei, a deputy to the National People's Congress, stated that after being in charge of an ecological farm in Dongshe town of Nantong's Tongzhou district for 15 years, she was proud to witness such an achievement.
Sun adheres to an ecological farming method at her farm that blends planting with breeding. She also implements a business model integrating agriculture, culture, and tourism, delivering science education on farming, education on the hard-working spirit, and natural education to students. Her efforts have injected new vitality into the farming industry and fostered a more profound knowledge of agriculture among the younger generation.
The report also outlined the developmental path for agriculture in 2025, suggesting that adhering to the rural vitalization strategy, efforts be made to promote rural reform, nurture more rural talents, enhance the rural industrial ecosystem, strengthen ties with farmers, and broaden income-increasing channels for farmers.
"With the support of national policies and the concerted efforts of agricultural professionals, I'm confident that the countryside will be more beautiful, agriculture more thriving, and farmers will be wealthier," Sun said.
Sun will continue her dedication to rural vitalization, helping people realize prosperity and inspiring more young people to become "new farmers".
