Rita, a Swiss woman and wife of Nantong Zhiyun Football Club player Yang Mingyang, has lived in Rugao, Nantong, for four years. Over time, she has developed a deep appreciation for Chinese cuisine and has been captivated by the richness of traditional Chinese culture.

During the Chinese New Year, Rita visited Rucheng Primary School to learn from Wang Zhujun, an inheritor of Rugao Paper Cutting, a centuries-old folk art known for its intricate designs and refined craftsmanship. Recognized as a Nantong-level intangible cultural heritage in 2021, Rugao Paper Cutting is celebrated for its patterns and strong decorative appeal.

Under Wang's guidance, Rita learned the basic techniques and carefully followed his demonstration of cutting the Chinese character "福" (meaning "blessing"). Focused and determined, she crafted her paper-cut, embracing the charm of this ancient art.

Beyond the hands-on experience, Rita explored a collection of Wang's masterpieces, including a series featuring the 12 Chinese zodiac signs. Impressed by the artistry, she expressed her admiration for the craft. "This experience has given me a deeper understanding of Chinese traditions, and I love this country even more. I hope to have more opportunities to learn and experience China's rich cultural heritage in the future," she said.
