The 2025 Tongzhou New Year Folk Culture Fair took place along the scenic ecological corridor on the northern bank of the Tonglv Canal on Jan 4.

The fair featured over 70 market stalls, including 28 showcasing unique offerings from towns and neighborhoods across Tongzhou. Visitors enjoyed a vibrant display of local intangible cultural heritage, creative products, and delicious foods.

Highlights included traditional crafts like Erjia blue calico, velvet flowers, and hand-carved gourd art. Blending traditional culture with modern design, these items attracted many visitors who stopped to admire or purchase them.

Live performances added another layer of excitement, with captivating acts such as the lotus plate dance, folk wedding rituals, and the popular Black Wukong performance, all tailored to entertain and delight the crowd.

Meanwhile, sports enthusiasts gathered at the venue's athletic fields, where basketball and soccer games were held. The "New Year Fun Run" was a standout event, drawing around 500 participants eager to start the year with energy and joy.
