Animation Week boosts cultural industry in Haimen
The 6th Topu Animation Week recently kicked off in the Linjiang New Area of Haimen district, Nantong, marking one of China's most prominent events in the animation industry.
Since its inception, Topu Animation Week has become a key indicator of industry trends. Over the past five editions, the event has hosted more than 100 professional forums, screenings, and other activities, attracting over 6,000 high-quality short films from around the world.
The event has sparked what experts call the "Topu effect". As more animation projects choose to settle in Linjiang, the area has developed into a thriving animation town. This unique model showcases the potential of cultural industries to lead the fostering of an international town.
One example of Topu's success is Nantong Inspiration Can Film Technology Co, a cultural enterprise specializing in high-precision stop-motion animation and technical innovation. The company, founded by Wang Wenxin, Zhang Meng, and Yang Baoyun, relocated to Haimen's Linjiang area in late 2022 after three years of preparation.
"The area's strategic location, strong policy support, and excellent services convinced us to start our second venture here," shared Wang Wenxin. The three founders, along with their families, have fully moved to Haimen. To support this transition, the Linjiang New Area collaborated with Haimen's education department to offer a green channel for talent policies, ensuring their children enjoy the same high-quality educational resources as local students.
So far, Linjiang New Area has attracted over 20 cultural enterprises and signed agreements with more than 10 resident artists, further cementing its reputation as a hub for creativity and innovation.
