On Dec 8, Jiangsu Weihua Marine Heavy Industry successfully transported China's first 3,000T gantry crane from Lyusi Port Economic Development Zone. The operation, which lasted 16 hours, was supported by comprehensive transport plans and continuous safety supervision from local authorities. The zone also deployed specialized vehicles to collect real-time load data, providing valuable insights for future heavy equipment logistics.

Lyusi Port is advancing its marine economy, with Wison, a leading builder of floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) units, having recently partnered with the zone. The partnership was expedited through streamlined administrative support, enabling the swift processing of complex sea-use permits involving multiple government levels.

Lyusi Port boasts the region's first heavy-duty public terminal, capable of handling up to 5 million metric tons annually. This terminal, equipped for oversized cargo like construction materials and steel, connects to inland waterways, the Yangtze River economic zone, and regional railways, strengthening its role as a logistics hub. Additionally, the port now supports direct grain imports, processing commodities like soybeans, corn, and wheat.

Year-to-date, Lyusi Port has processed 85 foreign trade and 62 domestic trade vessels, with a cargo throughput of 2.58 million cubic meters, generating 123.4 million yuan ($16.98 million) in revenue. Its container terminal handled 300 container ships, including 46 international vessels, with a throughput of 147,194 TEUs.

Lyusi is also home to a thriving fishing industry. The national-level central fishing port handles 300,000 tons of seafood annually, supported by modernized facilities such as ice plants and unloading sheds. Future plans include building a marine economic zone featuring cold-chain logistics, marine medicine, and recreational tourism.
