Tongzhou district in Nantong, Jiangsu province, has once again made the list of the country's top 100 industrial counties in the recently released 2023 rankings.

This recognition is a testament to the continuous development of the district's industrial sector. In 2023, the total industrial output value and value-added of Tongzhou's above-designated-size industries saw impressive growth, increasing by 10.5 percent and 12 percent, respectively.

In recent years, Tongzhou has not only strengthened its two traditionally strong industries—textiles and construction—but also nurtured three emerging industries: new-generation information technology, intelligent equipment, and the automotive sector, including the production of vehicles and their constituent parts. This comprehensive approach has significantly modernized the industrial system.

In 2023 alone, the annual value of transactions in Tongzhou's textile industry exceeded 150 billion yuan ($20.9 billion), and the construction industry's total output value surpassed 260 billion yuan. Tongzhou is also home to a national torchbearer special industry base for automotive components, and its electronic components industrial cluster has been included in the province’s first batch of innovative industrial cluster construction projects.

Leacend Technology Co Ltd is a national high-tech enterprise. With extensive experience in the photovoltaic industry, the company's heterojunction cell project, with a total investment of 7 billion yuan, set up operations in Tongzhou on Oct 28, 2023. The project, divided into three phases, is expected to be completed and operational by 2025.

"The establishment of this project will strongly promote the development and expansion of Tongzhou's new energy industry, making the industrial cluster even more robust," said Ni Jianzhong, director of the development and reform commission of Tongzhou.

Tongzhou currently boasts one industrial enterprise with over 10 billion yuan in output value, nearly 10,000 large-scale industrial enterprises, and 10 companies that have entered domestic and international capital markets.
