The TV documentary Hu Yuan started shooting on Nov 15 at Anding Primary School in Rugao, a county-level city of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province.

Hu Yuan, or Mr Anding, was a famous thinker and educator from the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) in China. He proposed the academic concept of understanding the essence of theories and applying them in practice, as well as the educational practice of departmental teaching, which influenced the history of education and society.

Zhang Weilong, head of the Rugao propaganda department, hopes the documentary will showcase Hu Yuan's life, status, achievements and influence, and help Rugao's application to become a national historical and cultural city.

Li Changyu, a renowned criminal investigation expert, said that Hu Yuan's thoughts had precious spiritual wealth that can increase the prosperity and strength of Rugao and China.

The documentary Hu Yuan is produced by Xia Jun Studio and directed by Xia Jun. It has two episodes, each about 50 minutes long. It will use historical facts, field visits, cultural relics, expert interviews, and artistic methods to share Hu Yuan's story and impact.
