The "Double 11" shopping festival has brought a surge of orders to the express delivery industry, and the Zhongtong Nantong Distribution Center in Chuanjiang town, Tongzhou district, Nantong, recently entered its busiest season.

"The center received 1.4 million packages on Nov 1, and it will ship 1.7 million packages today," said Zhan Weixin, head of the center's network management department.

The distribution center covers an area of 157,000 square meters and is equipped with two sets of automated equipment, which can process up to 2.5 million packages per day, greatly improving sorting efficiency. The center's business volume is expected to increase by 120 percent during the "Double 11" shopping festival.

On Nov 1, a total of 5.85 million items were shipped in Nantong.
