Bencha ancient town in Rudong county in Nantong, Jiangsu, celebrated the eight-day Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays with a series of exciting events that captivated thousands of people from all corners of the country.

One of the most highly-anticipated events was the moon worship ceremony, which took place in the evening of Sept 29, the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Over 10 children dressed in colorful attire and carrying lotus-shaped lanterns paraded from Zhongshi Street and Dongda Street towards the moon worship platform.

On the ceremonial altar, offerings such as mooncakes and various fruits were displayed. The main officiant followed ancient customs to pay homage to the moon, seeking blessings and good fortune.

Moon worship is an important ancient ritual in Chinese culture that is rooted in the traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Through this ceremony, people pray for peace, harmony, family reunions, and the well-being of the nation.

After witnessing the ceremony, many attendees found themselves deeply moved. Ni Hua, who drove 40 kilometers to attend the event with her child, stated that traditional culture broadens children's horizons and instills a sense of cultural identity and pride.

Additionally, the banks of the Ben River came alive with splendid traditional song and dance performances, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

The series of festival activities continued through Oct 6, spanning the entire holiday period.
