Eight companies from Tongzhou district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, made the list of the 2022 provincial-level top 100 construction enterprises, according to the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

This achievement was made possible by the rapid development of the local construction industry, which serves as a pillar of Tongzhou's economy.

In 2022, the total construction output value in Tongzhou reached 229.85 billion yuan ($31.56 billion), representing year-on-year growth of 6.3 percent.

Despite the challenges posed by an overall decline in the construction industry this year, the construction sector in the district has displayed remarkable resilience and stability. In the period from January to June, the total construction output value for the district stood at 80.91 billion yuan, a growth rate of 6.6 percent compared to the previous year.

In recent years, the district's construction sector has been making substantial strides in improving its industrial chain and has developed multiple leading companies.

Among them is Nantong Sijian Construction Group, which secured the top position in the category of comprehensive strength in the list.

Established in 1958, the group has become a national-level leading enterprise in the construction industry. The group was also the first in the province to be awarded the Luban Award, one of the most prestigious construction awards in China.

To date, Tongzhou's construction enterprises have been awarded 66 Luban Awards.
