The Road Cycling Open of the Second Yangtze River Delta Region Sports Festival kicked off in Kaisha Island in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on Dec 11, local media reported. 

Nearly 100 cyclists from Nantong and other cities in the Yangtze River Delta Region participated in the event. 

The race featured a 40-kilometer ride through the Kaisha Island resort. Xia Wei won the race with a time of 55 minutes and 44 seconds. 

Located in Wujie town, Kaisha Island is one of the islands in the Yangtze River Delta Region that have been excelling at ecological environment protection. 

The island, which has in recent been developing its sports industry, currently has one ping-pong training center and a golf club.

Holding sports events such as the Second Yangtze River Delta Sports Festival is also one of the measures taken to develop sports industry.

The Yangtze River Delta Sports Festival is a regional sports event launched by authorities of Shanghai municipality, Jiangsu province, Zhejiang province, and Anhui province. The event aims to advance the high-quality development of the sports industry in the Yangtze River Delta Region. 

At present, the event has set up eight regular competitions and 15 exhibition games.
