Rugao Port sees rapid growth in container throughput in July

The container throughput of Jiangsu Rugao Port in Rugao, Nantong, saw a rise of 45.28 percent year-on-year in July, reaching 55,466 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), local media reported on Aug 9.
In the first seven months, the container throughput of Rugao Port totaled 328,100 TEUs, a year-on-year increase of 7.67 percent.
In 2021, the port handled 575,000 TEUs of containers.
A multimodal sea and river transport system has been formed at Rugao Port.
The "Gaoshen Express", an internal branch line of foreign trade between Rugao Port and Shanghai Port, has already opened.
Ship routes from Rugao Port to Guangzhou Port, Yingkou Port and Tangshan Port, and regular ship routes from Rugao Port to Nanjing, Wuhan, Chongqing and other ports in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River have also opened, as have routes from Rugao Port to inland ports such as Huai'an, Suqian and Jining.
