A new type of semi-submersible salvage engineering ship built by the Haimen base of China Merchants Industry Holding Co Ltd finished its trial voyage on July 21, according to local media reports.
The voyage consisted of sea tests on the functionality and operation of all systems and equipment on the ship, including ship operation performance, vibration and noise, DP commissioning, DP-FMEA, diving and sailing.
The voyage lasted 22 days and all the tests were successfully completed. It saw the world's first DP diving for this type of ship, with a maximum diving depth of 30 meters.
The ship can load and transport large marine equipment and ships. It can also be used for the exploitation of marine oil and natural gas. It also can meet the overall salvage needs of a 100,000-ton shipwreck and salvage military and civil ships, equipment and aerospace vehicles.
