Shipyard Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Qidong Marine Engineering Co Ltd – based in the county-level city of Qidong in East China's Jiangsu province – has made solid progress building a 4,000-ton revolving pontoon crane for owner Jiangsu Longsheng Marine Engineering Co Ltd.

Since the work started in November last year, the shipyard is understood to have overcome difficulties brought about by the COVID-19 epidemic and carried out the work to plan in methodical sequences. The vessel is expected to be delivered to its owner in the first half year of 2023.

The 4,000-ton revolving pontoon crane is another key project for the shipyard. The maximum lifting weight of the main hook is 4,000 tons and when revolving, the capacity is 3,000 tons.

It was designed as an eco-friendly and multi-functional marine engineering vessel with the highest and farthest hoisting distance and the best performance among that category of pontoon cranes in China.

After completion, it will mainly be used in wind power projects. It can also serve offshore oil platforms, cross-sea bridge construction projects, hoist large components and salvage large wrecks, giving it a wide range of uses.
