Moving further down the path of its green development, the county-level city of Qidong – administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – has devoted a great deal of effort in recent years in restoring and protecting its coastline, as well as boosting its flood defenses in order to transform itself into an even more beautiful place.
On June 2, the groundbreaking ceremony for an extensive forest park – located to the north of the estuary of the Yangtze River in the Qidong region – took place. In time, the park is expected to become a showcase green restoration demonstration area that exemplifies the harmonious balance that can be achieved between mankind and nature.
In addition to the park, the city also has many other sites positioned along the Yangtze River bank and coastline, such as Evergrande Venice – a major coastal resort and complex that offers integrated residential, conference and exhibition facilities, as well as facilities for culture and entertainment, sports and health care.
Lyusi fishing port, one of six State-level central fishing ports in China, went into commercial decline after it was hit by overfishing in previous years. But after a three-year restoration of its coastline that began in 2018, its appearance is now stunning and it is currently the country's largest man-made fishing port with a wide assortment of facilities and services that include boat refueling, ice filling, and vessel maintenance.
