The Nantong Eminent Figures Museum – located in the Chongchuan district of Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – is scheduled to debut on June 29, boasting a total floorspace of 9,548 square meters, with 7,459 sq m dedicated to exhibitions.
The museum is divided into four areas – an ancient exhibitions area, a modern exhibitions area, a contemporary exhibitions area and a special functions area – in line with chronological order and major historical points in time.
The lives of 1,943 eminent figures – who were born in Nantong, or who grew up there and made outstanding contributions to the city's and even the country's political, economic and cultural development – are displayed in the new facility.
The special functions area will be mainly used to host special, themed and temporary exhibitions.
The museum will put a lot of effort into optimizing its collections and contents, according to an official from the city's culture, radio, film and tourism administration.
He said it would boost the integration of culture and tourism and strengthen its management, in order to pave the way for the museum to become a key venue to promote core socialist values to the public – especially to young people.
