With investment valued at 30 million yuan ($4.6 million), the renovation project of Dinggujiao Pedestrian Street started in August 2019. On Sept 26, the renovated street was officially open to the public. The intangible cultural heritage elements of Nantong, such as folding fans with a blue calico pattern, oiled paper umbrellas, and banyao whistling kites decorated the pedestrian street with a special atmosphere.
