Hai'an Hengke Industrial City starts construction
Construction started on Hengke Industrial City in Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, Jiangsu province on April 15. The city will cover an area of over 1 square kilometers and will cost 5 billion yuan ($706.89 million) in total.
The city will serve as an industrial complex focusing mainly on high-end equipment manufacturing, automobile components, electric engineering, and light industrial products. It will be able to accommodate a maximum of nearly 400 small and medium-sized enterprises.
Enterprises involved in the same industrial chains as the city's main industries are expected to set up operations there. Supermarkets, dining halls, and dormitories in the city are well equipped to ensure a comfortable living environment for employees.
The city is expected to finish construction within three years. After completion, about 15,000 job opportunities are expected to be provided and it is expected to generate 8 billion yuan in annual revenue.
Over 40 enterprises will be able to begin operating in the industrial complex before the end of this year, and the first phase of construction is expected to be finished in the first half of 2021.
Gu Guobiao, secretary of the Hai'an's Party committee, said that the industrial complex has already attracted a lot of investment and is important for industrial transformation, cluster development, and employment. The local government is paying close attention to the construction of the city and will offer timely support when needed.
