Construction on the main structure of the Nantong West Station in Tongzhou district has recently been completed.

The station's buildings cover an area of 16,000 square meters, making it the largest newly built station along the Shanghai-Nantong Railway.

Its 36,000-sq-m canopy consists of more than 18,000 steel rods and 2,000 tubular joints. It is a large-span steel structure, with the longest span between two rods being 39.2 m.

Nantong West Station, which serves as a junction between the Shanghai-Nantong Railway, the Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing Intercity Railway, and the Yancheng-Nantong Railway, will play a significant role in the region's transportation network.

The station will also put Nantong inside Shanghai's one-hour economic circle and contribute to the development of the economic belt along the Yangtze River Delta.
