Tongzhou has been making significant breakthroughs in many areas since the beginning of 2019, according to officials.

Tongzhou’s GDP reached 70.33 billion yuan ($10.22 billion) in the first half of 2019, representing  year-on-year growth of 6.7 percent. Its general public budget revenue totaled 3.73 billion yuan during the same period.

Seventy-four projects with an investment of over 100 million yuan each were newly introduced to the district. Among them, 12 have investment of more than 1 billion yuan, including the JD Airfreight Hub and Kawasaki Robot, 55 have begun construction and 46 have already been put into operation so far.

Last year the district announced its plans to introduce a large number of major projects to local industry. To date, 26 new projects in Tongzhou have been listed in the major provincial project program. 

Officials said that in order to transform academic research results into industrial technologies, Tongzhou has built a cooperation platform for local universities and research institutes and enterprises in Xitong Science and Technology Industrial Park. Seven enterprises have already signed technological cooperation contracts worth 1.75 million yuan with related research institutes.

To date, 32 enterprises in Tongzhou have been participating in the formulation of 115 national and industrial standards. Local companies, including Goldsun Textile and Technology Co Ltd and Violet Polytron Inc, made the list of Leading Enterprises of Industrial Standards in Jiangsu province in 2018. 

The progress  made by Tongzhou in the first six months of 2019 is propelling the district into a high-quality economy and powering its innovative development, officials added.
