Rudong park listed as national demonstration park
Rudong demonstration park for rural industrial integration development was among the first batch of national demonstration parks, according to a recently released list.
The list was published by the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and other five departments.
A total of 100 parks across the country were on the list, with only five from Jiangsu province.
Based on Rudong modern agricultural industry park in Jiangsu province, the Rudong demonstration park integrates with other provincial platforms to develop new projects on leisure agriculture and rural tourism.
It aims to build itself as a leading demonstration park with multiple agricultural functions.
In partnership with Nantong Zhongjiang Development Co Ltd, Rudong demonstration park built a public service platform with emerging technologies including Internet of things and big data to monitor the whole process of agricultural production, management and services.
The service platform also connects e-commerce platform to integrate online and offline shopping, bringing the park's annual turnover to 148.3 million yuan ($21.89 million) and increasing farmers' income by 35 million yuan.
Last year, with the investment of approximately 170 million yuan, the demonstration park launched 19 projects to integrate agriculture, industry and service sectors. The number of tourists in the rural area was estimated to be 45,600, generating a tourism revenue of 11.58 million yuan.
