Deals worth $2b signed at Rudong-Shanghai investment event

The 12th China Rudong Coastal Economic Cooperation Fair was held in Shanghai on Dec 20. The event was held by the government of Rudong county in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, with the aim of attracting investment and top professionals to the area.
As part of the fair, the 2018 Rudong-Shanghai Investment Environment Promotion Conference was also held on the same day, attracting attendees from companies operating in the high technology, advanced manufacturing and modern service industries.
Yang Jingjing, deputy county director, promoted Rudong's investment opportunities to attendees.
Shen Junfeng, head of Rudong county, said at the event that Rudong is developing at a remarkable speed, and has built industrial clusters for new energy, new materials and high-end equipment manufacturing. It has also received investment from 17 Fortune 500 companies.
Shanghai has long-standing economic ties to Rudong, and boasts a significant number of top professionals.
It is expected that more companies in Shanghai and professionals in the city will work with Rudong, and the county will continue to provide a high-quality innovation and entrepreneurship environment, added Shen.
The conference saw 20 cooperation agreements signed, with investment totaling more than 14 billion yuan ($2.03 billion), covering areas including medical equipment and the automobile industry.
Among them, the Hemei 2025 high-end industrial park received investment of 5 billion yuan.
Other events, such as a new-generation information technology industry development fair and a cross-border e-commerce development forum were also held during the event.
