Beijige City Wall, located at the west end of the Beihao bridge, dates from 958. Built with rocks, it is an important feature along the central axis of ancient Tongzhou city. Eight meters in height, it stretches thirty meters from east to west and twenty meters from north to south. In November 1988, the Beijige City Wall Ruins were included in the 3rd group of historical and cultural protection sites by the Nantong municipal government. A city wall ruins protection project was carried out in 2009, and by 2011 the ruins were reopened. The Beijige City Wall is a key component of the historical and cultural block of Sijie Street, and the only relic of the ancient Nantong city wall.
