Guangjiao Temple

(chinadaily.com.cn) Updated: 2018-07-19

There still exist three building complexes dating back to the Ming (1368-1644) or Qing (1644-1911) dynasties, which are Zilang Zen garden at the foot of the hill, Kuizhu mountain house on the hillside, and Zhiyun tower yard at the top of the hill. The building complexes inherited and carried forward the essence of Buddhist culture from the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties, mixed in the architecture of a Chinese palace and absorbed some elements of folk building, thus acquiring a majestic and solemn style, simple yet elegant. In 1980, Guangjiao Temple was named among 142 significant national temples to open to the public by the State Council. In May 2013, the temple was included in the seventh batch of national major historical and cultural protection sites by the State Council.
