Born in October 1976 in Shaoyang, Hunan province, Lu Wenjie is of the Yao ethnic group and a member of the Communist Party of China. He holds a part-time graduate degree and began his career with the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China in 2016. Since September 2024, he has served as the deputy director of Prince Kung's Palace Museum.
