More than 200 exquisite shadow puppets have been selected for display from the collection of Prince Kung's Palace Museum, which boasts over 9,000 pieces of this category. These shadow puppets represent diverse styles from various regions of China, showcasing a rich array of artistic features and regional cultures.
Alongside them the exhibition highlights the flourishing development of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) shadow puppetry in Beijing, which recollects the customs of patronizing shadow puppetry troupes in Qing Dynasty's princely residences, and illustrates the historical connection between Prince Kung's Palace and Jizhou shadow puppets from Tianjin.
